Of the 18 suites available, the most impressive is the 2-bedroomed Imperial Suite. In a display of unsurpassed elegance and grand style befitting a private residence, the Imperial Suite is the Laguna Resort and Spa’s stately homage to unrivalled affluence.

It's miles away but with 50-minute facials and papaya body wraps

Tembok Spa, which opened in the summer of 2007, is situated in northeast Bali’s untouristy volcanic coast with beaches as black and sparkly as coal-dust. The treatments incorporate natural (mostly edible) ingredients, freshly prepared outside the treatment rooms. You can also attend the Spa Academy, where the 75-year-old Kak Tis will teach you Balinese philosophy and massage techniques.

Bali or Bangkok? Cathay, $761, from LAX

Book fast and land a bodacious discount airfare to a couple of the planet’s most exotic locales: Bali (DPS) or Bangkok (BKK). For $761, Cathay Pacific will fly you round-trip to either from Los Angeles (LAX).

The doors close on this discount airfare sale at 11:59pm (Pacific Standard Time) on Friday, February 29, or until Cathay deems the deal sold out. Travel during the month of April, from 1-30. That’s the window of opportunity to Bali or Bangkok.

While the $761 rate quoted here is round-trip, neither taxes nor fees are included in this deal. They’re going to cost you extra. That’s important to remember when planning for the trip.
